Service Systems Associates, the exclusive service provider of Concessions, Retail, Groundskeeping, and Custodial at the Detroit Zoo seeks indiviuduals to join our EXTRAordinary Team!!!

*** Must Be Available To Work Monday-Sunday 9AM-8PM*** Weekends are a MUST! This is a Seasonal/Temporary position. Experience from Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Banana Republic, and Express are highly preferred.

Job Summary

With an emphasis on customer self-choice sales, not all visitors need assistance from co-workers when dining at the concession stands. However, there is one situation when all zoo visitors need help from one of our co-workers – at the registers. The goal of our cashiers is to provide efficient, good service to make sure every customer and visitor leaves with a good impression of the Detroit Zoo. The cashier is part of the cash team and reports to the cash supervisor. The registers are where customers’ perceptions, as well as their purchases, all come together. By providing fast, accurate and friendly service, cashiers make sure the impression that customers leave with is a positive one.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Keep checkout areas clean and tidy.

-Accurately perform all necessary functions of the POS system, as well as filling out opening and closing register paperwork.

-Maintain all cash and charge media in its proper location.

-Provide visitors with a positive experience by creating a friendly impression at the registers.

-Processes transactions quickly and efficiently.

-Observe security procedures.

-Reconcile balance and signs off on cash on-hand.

-Use available resources to secure training in friendly helpful service, security procedures, basics and proper ergonomics.

-Contribute to an environment where the zoo culture is strong and where the diversity of our co-workers and customers is valued and embraced.

-Follow all HR policies and procedures, corporate regulations and department standards on a daily basis.

-Assume responsibility for projects and tasks as they occur.

REQUIREMENTS Capabilities/Motivation:

-18 years or older

-Strong interest in retail and the hospitality field.

-Will and ability for further development within SSA and the Detroit Zoo.

-Proactive and courteous customer approach.

-Good communication skills.

-Mathematical skills and aptitude.

-Computer aptitude.

-Desire to work with people in a high-paced retail environment.

-Ability to lift 50 lbs. (25kg)

-Must have open availability on weekdays and all weekends, holidays and some night events.
